The employees of our company have carried out a remarkable environmental action to offset their CO2 emissions and at the same time draw attention to the pollution of nature in the Pierbusch-Brambauer industrial area. In July, part of the OEGE workforce gathered to collect trash in the industrial area.

At first glance, the industrial area around Lünen-Brambauer seemed clean, but turned out to be a veritable garbage dump. Within just two hours, the 10 dedicated employees managed to collect no less than 20 garbage bags full of trash. This illustrated the extent of the garbage problem that exists even in supposedly well-kept areas.

But the most extraordinary find of the day was not trash. In the middle of a small forest, the employees discovered three women’s handbags and women’s clothing. We immediately decided to hand these finds over to the police. The police have begun an investigation to locate the owners of the handbags and possibly bring a perpetrator to justice.

“We are proud of our employees who are actively involved in protecting the environment and working towards a more sustainable future,” said Özcan Gölyeri, managing director of OEGE Trading. “This action has inspired us all to take action to curb pollution. Our team was shocked to see the extent of littering.”

We plan to take further environmental action and hope that this initiative will encourage other companies and the community to take similar steps to protect our environment.

The cleanup was supported by GWA Unna, who provided us with materials such as trash grabs and high-visibility vests. They also helped us by the dispose of the trash we collected.
